Today, March 7th is National Cereal Day! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. According to the Mayo Clinic Breakfast eaters: 1) Consume more vitamins and minerals and less fat and cholesterol 2) Have better concentration and productivity throughout the morning 3) Control their weight 4) Have lower cholesterol, which reduces the risk of heart disease This goes for children as well. Children who don't eat breakfast are more irritable, have more problems concentrating in school and are sleepier in school. Breakfast should consist of a serving of whole grains, a low fat protein or dairy product and a fruit.

Our next cooking lesson will teach us some great breakfast recipes, including a strata, baked oatmeal and a fruit parfait. All will keep you full and will start off your day right! Last update : 07-03-2008 19:31
